Coding Projects – HTML/CSS/Javascript
Project details
Challenge
Since 2017, I’ve been building WordPress websites for clients, primarily using visual editors and CSS I found online for customizations. My approach to HTML and PHP involved searching for codes, testing, and applying them.
By 2020, I realized the need to deepen my coding knowledge. The COVID-19 pandemic provided the perfect opportunity, as client work slowed down. Instead of being distracted by the news, I focused on learning to code during my spare time.
Despite having a part-time job as a graphic designer since 2017, I dedicated my days off to becoming a full-fledged developer.
Solution
Start of January 2020, I started watching videos regarding web development but never really took action due to busy schedule at work and also busy trying to make ends meet for my family.
It was on May 7, 2020 I finally decided to start writing codes and to start upgrading my skills. I also started writing my Coding Goals in ASANA and planned my day to day activities as well as Monthly targets. I started with FreeCodeCamp learning Basic HTML and CSS and then completing 3 projects (I needed 2 more to get the certificate).
I then purchased HTML/CSS, Javascript, PHP courses on UDEMY and completed the HTML/CSS course with a real world website project. From May 7 til June 18, I averaged 5-6 hours daily of learning how to code with HTML and CSS and also learning a bit about PHP and Javascript.
I have already booked my next lesson and will start learning in depth Javascript on July 18, 2020.
Note:The content above is from 2017. I haven't used GitHub recently due to my busy career.

Coding Projects
This page is where I will put my Portfolio for all my coding projects.
Expect to see some updates and changes in this page time to time.
FREECODECAMP: SURVEY FORM PROJECT
The goal is to use HTML, Javascript and CSS to complete this project. However, as per challenge, plain CSS and HTML is highly recommended because after all, this is what the lessons have covered so far and this project should get me some good practice with CSS.
I have run the tests using FCC’s CDN link provided and passed all 17 tests. You can view and test this project by clicking on the hamburger icon on the top left corner of the project page then select test suite > Survey Form and run tests. Click the button below to go to live project.
FREECODECAMP: PACQUIAO TRIBUTE
This is the second project I did at FreeCodeCamp. Requirements are the same as the survey form project only the ‘user stories’ are different. I love Manny Pacquiao and I felt like this is the best time I can pay tribute to the man who have inspired millions of people around the world including me.
There are 10 user stories required to complete this challenge and I think this is probably the easiest one among the 5 challenges for the ‘Responsive Web Design’ certification at FreeCodeCamp.
UDEMY: CSS/HTML – FOODSNAX
While learning to code on FreeCodeCamp, I also took a Responsive Web Design course on Udemy to reinforce my skills. My goal was to learn coding in 3 months during COVID quarantine and then apply for better jobs post-pandemic.
Through this journey, I realized coding is about more than just high-paying jobs. Although 3 months was ambitious, I aimed to complete some JavaScript courses in 9 months and potentially learn back-end programming to build an app in the future.
Working on the FoodSnax project opened my eyes to new possibilities. For now, I’m enjoying the learning process, taking it one step at a time, and not stressing over self-imposed deadlines.

Thank you for putting out a lot of effort and going the extra mile, you are very talented. (Note: This is my best translation to English of what the client said)

Mark is our go to guy when it comes to promoting our fights with visuals. He also designed our logo brand, HBG Promotions and also for our Harada Boxing Gym in Bohol. Everything looks coordinated now , with our letterhead, flyers, ring props and business card, etc.. Aside from graphics design, he is also our number 1 Professional Boxing announcer!!!
